HD-13 Candidate Kathaleen Wall Praises Governor Abbott for His Focus on Protecting East Texas Aquifers

Wall lends her support to Abbott for adding study of Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer to special session agenda

CENTERVILLE, TX — Today, Kathaleen Wall, Republican candidate for Texas House District 13, praised Governor Greg Abbott for adding a study of the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer to the call for the current special legislative session, calling it “a strong step forward in protecting the water future of rural Texas.”

Wall, a longtime advocate for rural communities and resource conservation, was in Austin yesterday for meetings with recognized water policy experts and researchers to address the growing challenges related to water rights across Texas – particularly in rural areas like House District 13.

During her visit, Wall engaged in discussions about the future of groundwater management, the urgent need to protect surface water from overuse, and exciting developments in water reclamation efforts. These efforts, she noted, could also lead to the recovery of critical rare earth minerals such as lithium – used in everything from electric vehicles to energy storage systems.

“As I’ve traveled throughout House District 13, I’ve heard numerous concerns regarding our precious water resources,” said Wall. “Specifically, I’ve seen the great concern about taking water from Lake Limestone, and I’m committed to working with Governor Abbott once I’m elected to protect these vital resources.”

Wall emphasized that preserving local water supplies is essential not only for agriculture and rural livelihoods but also for future economic development and Texas’ energy independence. She applauded Governor Abbott for recognizing the importance of the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer, an underground water source critical to many rural communities, and for prioritizing it in the special session agenda.

“With visionary leadership and smart science-based solutions, we can protect our water, empower our rural communities, and even unlock new opportunities like lithium recovery that benefit all Texans,” Wall added.

Kathaleen Wall is a conservative businesswoman running to represent House District 13, which includes Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Leon, Limestone, and a portion of McLennan counties. Learn more about Kat Wall’s campaign by visiting https://katwallfortexas.com/.
