CENTERVILLE, TX – Kat Wall, candidate for Representative in Texas House District 13, said today that, in the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the recent shooting of children praying at a Minnesota church, and the heavily publicized murder of a young, Ukrainian immigrant woman by a violent felon who had been arrested and released 14 times by soft on crime judges, that “the time for political business as usual in this country is over.”
“First, I want to thank federal and local law enforcement for their tireless efforts in apprehending the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk. Through their hard work, justice can now be swiftly carried out in a court of law.
“Now is not the time for a generic political statement in the wake of an assassination in cold blood,” Wall said. “Over the last decade, almost all of the violence in America has come from the left, egged on by the reckless rhetoric of leftist public officials, the establishment media, and violent activists who call anyone who contradicts their narrative a fascist, racist, or whatever slur they can think of to demonize conservatives. Soft-on-crime prosecutors and judges have engaged in a massive social justice experiment that has come at the steep cost of the lives of innocent, ordinary Americans. To quote the great philosopher Adam Smith, ‘mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.’
“Charlie Kirk was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was a kind and decent person who advocated for peaceful political discourse, freedom of speech, and open debate – a bedrock of our democratic republic. His outreach in good faith was met with the bullet of a leftist sniper. Those on the left who have cried “democracy dies in the darkness” are the very people who are shaking the foundations of our democracy to its core.
“Enough is enough. The discussion of utterly perverse, cruel, and irresponsible positions as if they deserve serious consideration while people are killed for holding conservative beliefs is over, and the social experimenters who treat the terrible toll of victims of this poisonous ideology as if they were collateral damage on the road to a woke, socialist utopia that is like a mirage in the desert – always close but never quite there. Their experiment has failed, at the great loss of life and safety of our fellow Americans.
“This nation was founded on the natural rights of man, the dignity of each individual, and the sovereignty of God. When we acknowledged God as the only God, for all our dysfunction, we had our cultural north star and always aspired to the true and the good. Since a radical leftist cohort of activists and ideologues chose to proclaim man as god, a god who speaks through government and social experimentation, we have been on a steep downhill curve.”
Wall was dismissive of Republicans who have enabled this vast cultural disorder by treating these absurdities seriously while ignoring the fundamental needs of the people they are supposed to serve.
“Every time a Republican votes to fund transgender therapy on minors, to let foreigners from hostile countries buy our farm and ranch land, or looks the other way as illegal aliens flood our border, it tears the fabric of what made our culture, our country, and our people so great,” she said.
“It is time for some Christian leaders to stop enabling this ideology, telling us we must turn the other cheek, completely ignorant of the meaning of that phrase. In ancient, occupied Israel, the prescribed response for being slapped by either a Roman or religious official was to immediately fall to your knees and beg forgiveness. Turning the other cheek was an act of passive defiance, preserving your dignity rather than submitting. It is time for all Christians and people of goodwill to take courage and to stand in the void. If we do not, the America that we love will cease to exist.”
Wall proposes a three-pronged approach to the problem. First, let government get back to the business of providing for public safety and the public good, period. The social experimentation must end now. Those in public office must seek to serve with humility and grace, and be accountable and responsive to their constituents, not seek power for their own benefit. Second, hold those in public life, particularly in the media, who egg on violence in the name of “tolerance” to account. Those who use their broadcasting platforms to spread lies, omit critical facts, and shape narratives contrary to the truth must have their broadcast licenses revoked. Third, treat those who advocate vicious absurdities and violence with the scorn and public shame they have earned.
“Protect our children, our citizens, and our communities. That is the first job of our government. As John Adams said, ‘Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.’ Let us recommit ourselves to the Judeo-Christian principles upon which we were founded, asserting our claims with humility while defending our neighbors of goodwill with vigor,” Wall concluded.
