CENTERVILLE, TX — Kathaleen Wall, Republican candidate for Texas House District 13, issued a statement today on the Republican Party of Texas censure of State Rep. Angelia Orr and nine other Republicans, including Speaker of the House Dustin Burrows. From Orr’s vote siding with Democrats to implement Burrows as Speaker, to her attacks on free speech and voting to increase state spending by over 40 percent, she has betrayed the rural Texans she promised to represent.
“It is clear that Angelia Orr has let down her voters by aligning with Democrats and selling out Republican voters in HD-13 for her own personal gain,” said Wall. “I commend the Republican Party of Texas for taking a principled stance to censure her and other weak Republicans. It is laughable that Orr is using the common Democrat tactic of ‘accuse your opponent of that which you do,’ by calling dedicated conservative Texans ‘RINOs.’ I have never heard anyone call the members of the RPT ‘RINOs’ – voters will see right through her deceptive tactics and reject her failed leadership at the ballot box.”
Wall also offered comment on the Republican Party of Texas voting not to remove Orr from the ballot.
“While Orr’s votes and policy stances have betrayed her district, I respect the decision of the Republican Party of Texas to censure her but not remove her from the ballot. Democracy will ultimately prevail, and it should be up to voters at the ballot box to make their own informed decisions on March 3rd. I am confident that voters will see through her reckless statements and alignment with Democrats, and nominate me to bring true conservative leadership to HD-13.”
